If you ever tried to install ESXi 5.5 on a machine with Adaptec 6405e RAID controller this most likely resulted in installer not detecting your disk array. The reason for that is vanilla plain ESXi distribution doesn’t have required driver. The solution is to build custom ISO image as described in VMware ESXi 5.5 ImageBuilder Instructions for Adaptec Controllers. For anyone facing the same issue we have prepared ISO image which can be downloaded below. Hope it will save someone few minutes of their time.
